Apprentice – Chainspeed

Why did you decide to do an apprenticeship?

I decided to take on an apprenticeship because I wanted to gain some real-world experience and learn new life skills. I contemplated between an apprenticeship and university but found out that university isn’t entirely necessary and that only a few industries actually needed a degree as a job requirement. I also wanted to have a head start in life and not incur monumental debt in the first few years of adulthood.

What can you do now that you couldn’t do before the apprenticeship?

My apprenticeship has been a great eye opener for me. I realized that communicational and interpersonal skills are the most important factor in any job role. Throughout my apprenticeship I have learnt a number of things from talking face to face to customers as well as over the phone and via email. This has not only given me the confidence to talk to new people but given me more confidence to meet new people. I have also learned a number of administration skills from VAT processing to WEB development and design.

What have been the highlights?

I have really enjoyed my time at Chainspeed. I have not only enjoyed the work, I have also enjoyed the relationships I have made with Tom, Sam, Will, Rob and Charlie. I wouldn’t say there has been any highlights in particular because every day was different and an absolute blast. I have honestly enjoyed every day working at Chainspeed.

How has the apprenticeship changed things for you?

I feel this apprenticeship has made me more confident as a person. I am also more knowledgeable about how a business is run.

Has the apprenticeship met your expectations?

The apprenticeship has exceeded my expectations and I wouldn’t change one bit of it. I was unsure what an apprenticeship actually consisted of at the start of my journey. However, everything was clearly set out and I received all the help I could possibly wish for.

Has it impacted the business you work for?

I feel I have had a positive impact on Chainspeed as an organization. I have come up with many ideas that have successfully changed processes to make them easier. I also think Chainspeeds expansion throughout apprenticeship has grown exponentially and me being there has encouraged and aided the growth undertaken within the organization.
