Office Apprentice – Red Bricks Estate Agents

Why did you decide to do an apprenticeship?

I decided to do an apprenticeship as I believed this would benefit my skills & offer great career progression as this would enable me to learn whilst on the job. I believed this would provide a realistic experience & help build my confidence and gain knowledge about working as a business administrator with the opportunity to learn about the property sector.

What can you do now that you couldn’t do before the apprenticeship?

I can now confidently liaise with internal and external stakeholders of the business such as colleagues, managers, landlords, tenants & the pubic. I can also take on various tasks such as responding to email and telephone enquiries. I also deal with maintenance issues, and I can ensure I can manage the issue from first reported to get this resolved as quickly as possible. I can also upload rental properties onto OpenView. Furthermore, I can coach others in the use of business software’s such as Keyzapp & OpenView.

What have been the highlights?

The highlight of my apprenticeship consists of meeting new people & being supported by the Absolute Works team & my managers and colleagues at Red Brick. Also, I have found resolving issues and communicating with stakeholders to meet their needs to be very rewarding.

How has the apprenticeship changed things for you?

The apprenticeship has changed things for me as I am able to take responsibility of my work and assess areas of my skills and behaviours that can be built upon to adapt to different tasks given by my assessor and by Red Brick.

Has the apprenticeship met your expectations?

The apprenticeship has exceeded my expectations as this has enabled me to grow in confidence therefore has given me the ability to take on and complete tasks to the best of my ability.

Has it impacted the business you work for?

The apprenticeship has impacted Red Brick as I have been able to act as supportive team member by coaching others in the use of certain systems and offer knowledge in areas such maintenance for example by organizing a contractor’s diary.

Managers comments

Taking on Lucy as our apprentice has allowed our company to train from scratch someone who understands our business and how we work whilst learning basic admin skills and knowledge to improve our customer service. She’s a great asset to our company and we will be keeping her on following her completion of the apprenticeship.
