Joy May


The Absolute Works story began in 2011, when Joy May founded the company with a commitment to taking a fresh approach to HR support for SMEs. Joy envisaged HR that would be built around excellent customer service and helping SMEs to maximise their profits.

Hailing from a boardroom background, where she held Group HR Director and Retail Operation Director Roles, Joy’s experience spans a diverse range of industries both nationally and globally. Joy has expertise in developing and expanding businesses from start up through to acquisitions and was involved in a successful management buyout and exit.

An experienced and successful coach specialising in working with directors and owner managers of small and medium sized companies. Joy has a Master’s degree in Strategic Human Resource and is a Fellow of the Institute of Directors.

Joy is passionate about apprenticeships; she set up and is still heavily involved in the apprenticeship arm at Absolute Works which goes from strength to strength. Joy enjoys coaching and mentoring small business owners on strategy as well as supporting small to medium companies with outsourced HR. She also works with retailers launching new businesses and supports them in their growth, both in the UK and internationally.
