HMRC are currently very active in terms of NMW audits, and we have successfully supported a number of clients through them. 

NMW audits don’t have to be a scary thing – as long as you’re prepared, are compliant with NMW and have everything in place in anticipation of any audit.

Top tip – Ahead of the increase in NMW, one of the simplest things you can do as an employer is audit the pay for your salaried employees to ensure that for the hours they work they will still receive a minimum of the NMW applicable to them. Also think about whether your employees are paid for training, whether they take paid or unpaid breaks and how you record hours worked and breaks in the event that you are asked for evidence of this.
